Pimple
A pimple is often a sign of the onset of the teenage years; however, this is a problem that can actually be treated or at least controlled to prevent major outbreaks as much as possible. Preventive measures are best applied in treating pimple problems but corrective treatments will also help cure the problem. Still, when all else fails, you could always visit a dermatologist to have the problem assessed, cured, or even removed.
Causes
The main cause of developing such skin problems is the body's production of excess sebum which could react or merge with dead skin cells to produce the irritated red spot. Still, the sebaceous glands may not stop producing sebum even with blockage so that the problem becomes worse and the spot becomes a breeding ground for bacteria.
Myths
There are several myths that surround pimple production; many of these are quite misleading. Among the top myths are that 1) it is best to pop it so that it will be gone, 2) oily foods and chocolate cause one to appear, 3) sun exposure will cure it, 4) washing as many times in a day as possible will help clear it, and 5) the more medicine you use, the better.
The truth is clearing acne problems is not as simple as popping it or washing many times a day. In fact, popping causes scars and too much washing causes skin irritation. Also, foods were not proven to be scientifically linked to pimple production but some do cause outbreaks in some people which does not mean that it is a general rule. Also, the sun will dry the skin, possibly worsening the problem.
Treatments
Treatment for an outbreak need not be expensive - over-the-counter medications such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid have been proven to be effective. Still, when the problem is difficult to cure, prescription medications could be used. However, because antibiotics have considerably more side effects than topical ones, their use is limited to worse cases.
In fact, you could actually try some pimple home remedies to address the problem. Such remedies include mashed garlic, raspberry, strawberry, tea tree oil, yoghurt, orange peel, lime juice, and certain herbs and medicinal plants. These remedies are often used as exfoliants, facial scrubs, and/or masks.
Is treating the pimple necessary? Of course! There are many ways to treat this problem but always understanding why it started could be a great help in finding a cure that will make it go away fast.
